Like everyone says, the wait time is long. Don't go in if you don't have at least 1hr to kill. If you do go, you will be rewarded with some seriously tasty food. I had chicken strips, waffles, eggs, grits, and fried okra. Everything was worth the weight. The grits and the okra were my favorite parts of this meal. The place isn't much, a few tables and a couple arcade games. The service though was quite good. The gentleman who took my order couldn't have been nicer.

I had ordered the fish and okra. Both were very flavorful. The cashier D'Angelo was courteous and made suggestive sales so I also selected the okra. The place is clean and orderly with a very Cool vibe/ambiance!! Sorry I didn't take a picture because I was more interested in feeding my tummy.

First time trying and it did not disappoint. Ordered the tenders and waffle, Mac & cheese and red beans and rice. Everything was fresh and tasted great! Loved that I was also able to watch college football while I dined. Great atmosphere.

In honor of Juneteenth & celebrating Black businesses, we stopped by this locally Black-owned restaurant and were so happy we did. We got the family meal deal and it was a great amount of food for a meal for four. The fried chicken, particularly the thighs, were soooo tasty. The waffle and mac and cheese were good (it looks better than it tasted) and the fries were okay (wish they could be a bit more crispy). The service was excellent and so friendly! The ambiance is very casual and homey for people who prefer to eat in the restaurant.

We were driving through and looking to make a quick stop for lunch. After spotting this on Yelp, we pulled up and grabbed the Family Deal, which was indeed a great deal! The service is super friendly and the cashier took the time to explain what was available. Waffles (4/5): Fluffy and super delicious with butter and maple syrup. Not standout in anyway, but yummy in a classic, nostalgic way. Chicken Wings (4.25/5): I'm not 100% sure, but my best guess is they put cornmeal into the crust and it really pays off. Absolutely exquisite crunch with each bite and the seasoning is too die for. They don't top my list for most tender wings I've ever had, but they were still pretty moist. Hush Puppies (3.75/5): I quite liked these. Super crunchy on the outside and fluffy with some bits of corn inside. I like fried foods and I like corn, so I quite liked this. Fried Cabbage (3/5): I'd never tried this dish before and it's okay. Unfortunately, it has bell peppers which I just personally hate. The cabbage itself is cabbage and honestly I just really needed some veggies. Mac & Cheese (1.5/5): Skip this one y'all. Not cheesy enough and lowkey not enough salt. The bites with a cheese crust weren't bad, but definitely opt for something else.

For decades I have searched for somebody in Southern California who knew how to make a proper Southern brown gravy, only to be sorely disappointed. Most are flavorless, or straight from a package. My mother taught me that the trick is *slowly* browning the raw flour in a skillet with butter or drippings, to the perfect intensity and dark brown color so it looks nearly burnt, but is not really. Then, and only then, you proceed to add the seasonings, and finally the broth or milk. The end result is a gloriously rich-tasting, thickened gravy that needs no apologies. And by golly, I think I finally found it! This was a test run, having never been to "I Love Chicken, blah blah blah" before. I had declined to go out, a bit of the sniffles that kept me under the weather. Unfortunately for me, this condition had no effect on decreasing my appetite. So my son, his wife, and my hubby decided to go without me, something I encouraged as long as they brought me home some of that Smothered Chicken I saw on the menu. When Mr. B finally arrived home, he struggled with 2 large shopping bags that each weighed two tons. Inside were 3 boxes filled with rice, that perfect, herbal, garlicky gravy, and either chicken pieces or oxtails, and two containers of sides. It was Tuesday, hence he had been helplessly tempted by the Special, the oxtail. The rest is history. The meal was really great; the gravy and large serving of rice sinfully good. The chicken pieces consisted of two breasts, battered and fried first, then smothered in that Southern gravy. Imho, the chicken had great potential other than the smaller of the two pieces was a bit dry. I would lean towards getting the dark meat next time. But get it again? Of course! And then there was the oxtail. Oh Tuesday, I think you might become my favorite day of the week! Three nice pieces of oxtail, so tender, the succulent meat could be sucked off the bone. Again, it came with the same gravy and a copious pile of rice. We really didn't need anything else, but each meal came with a choice of one side. So we tried the collard greens (healthy, right?) and the Mac n cheese. The Mac n cheese was exactly what I love, baked and thick with melty, cheddar cheese as opposed to a creamy cheese sauce. Three thumbs up! The greens, not so much. Mr. B loved it, I did not. I prefer ones with a smokey taste. Granted, my taste buds may have been "off", but everything else tasted spot on. Mr. B is not one to pass by a Peach Cobbler either. That container could feed 2-3 people, or one hungry dessert beast. I loved it, he did not. Their version was made with canned peach slices topped with a nice, flakey crust. The filling was not overly sweet, and had a light cinnamon taste that I found very appealing. Bottom line...if smothering foods in a fabulous gravy is your weakness, then this should be a place for you to try. It certainly soothed my savage soul. The servings are very generous; you can expect more than one meal from each entree. Pictures? Ooops. My brain was a train wreck. Next time....! What a fun find!
